While its national identity was questioned by neighboring states, Macedonia launched Skopje 2014. In less than five years, Skopje was entirely changed, adopting out of nowhere the image of an ancient Hellenic city. “The Hundred Columns of Skopje” portrays daily life between empty, monumental spaces. Ordinary people recite ancient Greek poems amidst unfinished buildings, evoking a cultural paradox.
